Status of the Let's be S.M.A.R.T. in Greece

In order to pursue its mission in Greece, the Let’s be S.M.A.R.T. organization is focusing on following key activities:

• Let's be S.M.A.R.T. steps in to provide accessible education, practical for both children and adults, about the importance of animals, how to care for them, and the benefits humans reap from engaging with them. Our PAWZITIVE program and publishing various education material promote the health and well-being of animals and their relation to human beings for social and health benefits. Through our website and social media pages we provide real-time modeling of animal care in action.

• Let's be S.M.A.R.T. organizes a variety of events designed to bring communities together with the common goal of facilitating and encouraging the responsible care of animals. All of our events pair hands-on activities for all ages with education about animal benefits. Our Tails for Tennis Junior Open charity event, creating the S.M.A.R.T. Kids video shot in our cat sanctuary or bringing together our Greek S.M.A.R.T. kids and refugee children during the birthday celebration in our cat sanctuary brought wider communities in Greece together to support animals and learn about them through sports, education and creative arts.

• One of the biggest markers of progress for the Let's be S.M.A.R.T. mission is community engagement. With every event we hold and each social media post we share, we look to see how people are responding. Our S.M.A.R.T. Hood App is now ready to go live and connect people globally. Using S.M.A.R.T. Hood App, we will be able to track and analyze community engagement in specific areas around the world, including Greece. This will give us insight into which goals are being met and how we can enhance our progress.

• Integral part of our mission in Greece is running a cat sanctuary in Attika region which works to rescue cats in need. Through its Adoption/Fostering program the organization is helping to find adoptive, loving forever homes for the rescued cats and thus aiming to improve the livelihood of animals in Greece.

• Let's be S.M.A.R.T. focuses on the implementation of solution-minded programs. Programs may include education about how to care for animals on a limited budget or small living quarters, and proper stray care and pet care. The example of such programs is for example our S.M.A.R.T. Sterilization Program which is helping to reduce the population of stray cats in the specific urban areas of Attika region.

• Let's be S.M.A.R.T. has successfully launched a volunteer program and with animal tourism on the rise, volunteers come from around the world to our Greek cat sanctuary to further our animal care and education mission. Our sanctuary in Greece allows us to provide concrete modeling of how to care for the animals around us and support the growth of volunteer engagement.
