One of the Let’s be S.M.A.R.T. core activities is to educate and raise the awareness about important issues of animal well-being in Greece and to share knowledge and information about animal care in general.

​Despite of the fact that Greece is part of the family of European Union states, the attitude towards the animals and their treatment are in many ways still behind the standards common in other, mostly Western European, countries. The situation has improved in past years, especially due to the great effort of many NGO's supporting animals in Greece and advocating for their rights. Nevertheless there is still long way to go in order to change sometimes deeply rooted ignorance and lack of empathy for both stray and owned animals. Neglecting, abuse, cruel treatment and poisoning of animals is happening very often, especially in the rural parts of Greece and the islands.

Let's be S.M.A.R.T. believes that the only way to change the situation is through the EDUCATION. Therefore a very big part of Let's be S.M.A.R.T. activities and resources are devoted to educate individuals and communities about RESPECT, CARE FOR ANIMALS,  ANIMAL NEEDS and HEALING AND THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS of animals. Let's be S.M.A.R.T. reaches to everybody - from children to senior citizens in order to raise the awareness through social media, by offering educational materials, giving a presentations in schools, organizing events promoting animal well being or just by talking to people.
